According to ClubCall, Leeds United are lining up a loan deal for West Ham United striker Ashley Fletcher during the January transfer window.

What’s the word, then?

Last week, The Sun suggested that Leeds were lining up a move for Fletcher, who is struggling to get first-team football at the London Stadium, having appeared for just 151 minutes across six appearances.

With Irons forward Andre Ayew having now returned from injury and Andy Carroll not far away either, it appears as though playing time could be even more limited for him in the second half of the campaign.

It’s not the first time Leeds have been linked with him, is it?

No, it isn’t. Leeds boss Garry Monk wanted to bring the then Manchester United attacker to Elland Road during the summer and thought he was closing in on his man, but Fletcher eventually opted for a move to the Premier League with the Hammers instead.

Would he be a good signing for Leeds?

Yes, of course. The 21-year-old impressed during a loan spell with Barnsley last term, scoring five goals in 21 appearances as the Tykes were promoted to the Championship, and he would have a point to prove to Slaven Bilic if he did move away from the London Stadium on a temporary deal.
